17th Annual Letter Carrier Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive -- Marco Island Rocks!
During this especially challenging economic time, area food banks and homeless shelters need our help even more than usual. This past Saturday, May 9th, Marco Island residents and visitors stepped up to the plate contributing approximately 32,600 pounds of non-perishable food for the 17th Annual Letter Carrier Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. We asked Marco Islanders to make this year better than last and they did, but boy did they ever, clearly exceeding last year’s food total of 24,750 pounds.
Marco Island letter carriers as well as hard working volunteers tirelessly collected food all around the Island. Additional volunteers then sorted the donations at the post office loading dock which were picked up throughout the day and distributed to Collier Harvest, St. Matthew’s House and the Chokoloskee, Everglades City and Copeland area non profit organizations.
Special heartfelt thanks go to RE/MAX Results Realty volunteers, Luisa Nagel of the Sandlin Team, her husband Henry Nagel and the three of the Vale brothers, Peter, Michael and Andrew Vale.
We want to once again also thank local area houses of worship for their efforts as well as condominium residents for all their extra food donations over the past two months. Let’s do it again next year!

Mari Jo, I wanted to thank you for all your time on Saturday. It is not lost on me how valuable it is. I truly believe that you set yourself apart from the vast majority of agents as I can tell you were keeping my best interests front and centre at all times.

Florida’s existing HOME sales increased in March, making it the seventh month in a row that sales activity demonstrated gains in the year-to-year comparison, according to the latest housing data released by the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR). Existing home sales rose 30% last month with a total of 13,085 homes sold statewide compared to 10,080 homes sold in March 2008, according to FAR. Statewide existing home sales in March were 32.7% higher than February’s statewide sales.
FAR also reported a 25% rise in statewide sales of existing CONDOMINIUMS in March, continuing a trend in recent months for higher statewide sales of both the existing home and existing condo markets compared to year-ago levels. Statewide existing condo sales last month increased 37.2% over the total units sold in February.
According to the Marco Island MLS sales statistics, the number of pending sales in our area is the highest it has been in 3 years and the number of properties for sale is the lowest it has been in 3 ½ years. According to the law of supply and demand that indicates a market that is turning for the better.
